Since I've been in quite the biography mood, I thought I might learn a bit of background about MLS sensation, David Beckham. I really enjoyed the book, which chronicles his middle-class upbringing, with a soccer dad whose life dreams were fulfilled when his son was signed with Manchester United as a teen on their youth team.
In this book he candidly talks about the pressures of being an elite athlete, playing not just for Man U, but also for the English World Cup team (and his biggest professional disappointment- being sent of in the 1998 World Cup in France, which earned him death threats at home), and his move to Real Madrid (the book was written just as he was moving to Spain).
Being married to another celebrity has made his personal life pretty scary- his sons and wife being targets of kidnapping plots. But what made this book enjoyable to me was how he wrote about his family in the most lovingly ways.
