Karl Martin Wolf (born 1961) is a German experimental physicist specializing in electron and optical spectroscopy and their use for studying the dynamical processes in solid state materials, surfaces, and interfaces.
He is the current director of the Department of Physical Chemistry at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin, Germany.[1]
Education and career
Wolf was born in Berlin and earned his PhD in experimental physics from the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society and the Free University of Berlin in 1991 under the supervision of Gerhard Ertl.
After completing his PhD, he spent a year as a postdoc at the University of Texas at Austin in the group of Mike White before returning to the Fritz Haber Institute as a member of the research staff in 1992. He was a visiting scientist at IBM Yorktown Heights in the group headed by T
