In letters sent to property owners in Old Town, the city said the names of numbered streets will be changed beginning Feb. 1. Instead, they will be named after people, places and things of historical significance in Carmel.
The letter signed by Mayor Jim Brainard, said the change will simplify addresses.
"In an effort to reduce confusion with the numbered streets and avenue names as well as pay homage to some of Carmel's historically significant residents, the city will be renaming several Carmel roadways," the letter reads.
