Abram (Abraham) Moses Mordecai was among the first settlers of the Mississippi Territory in the areas of Alabama which became Chambers and Tallapoosa County.

He played a role in virtually all of the events that shaped the Southeast, including the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Creek War of 1813-14. But also in fact, he crisscrossed back and forth over Chambers and Tallapoosa counties for fifty years establishing many friends, including the well earned respect of my third great grandfather who lived and died in the community of Dudleyville.
William Henry Irvin named his fifth son “Abram” in honor of this Early American
hero and respected neighbor. I suspect many of us have ancestors from Chambers and Tallapoosa Counties named “Abram” or “Abraham” in his honor.
